Dr. Sunwoo graduated in 1996 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, then went on to complete his Post Doctoral Residency at the UCLA Dental School and Medical Center, in Los Angeles CA, one of the most prestigious dental residency programs in the country. He is an Affiliate Faculty Member at the University of Washington Dental School, Dept. of Restorative Dentistry.

Dr. Sunwoo has been in practice since 1997 with an emphasis on Cosmetic Dentistry. First in Southern California for 7 years and in Bellevue since 2004. In 2002, Dr. Sunwoo was invited by the California Dental Board to serve on their Expert Panel. 

A member of the Academy of General Dentists (AGD) and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), Dr. Sunwoo participates in continuing education courses with Spear Education and their Master programs, where Advances in Dental techniques are constantly being reviewed and mastered.

At Bellevue Dental Excellence, Dr. Sunwoo strives to remain at the forefront of dental technology and is one of the first Dentist to start using CEREC CAD/CAM Technology in the area. He has extremely high standards and is very thorough in the dental services provided to his patients. It is his philosophy that every patient brings forth a unique challenge and therefore necessitates an individualized approach and treatment plan.

As a child, Dr. Sunwoo lived in many different countries throughout Africa and Europe which enriched his interest in cultural diversity. As an adult he lived for 12 years in Boston and then 7 years in Los Angeles when his admiration towards nature brought him to the northwest, finally ending up in Bellevue in 2004 where he has since lived and worked. He brings with him all of the experiences he has accumulated over the last 16 years while practicing and teaching dentistry.


When he is not working he and his family enjoy traveling and boating.
